There is no downtime!Īs I slow down and prioritize my time, the 7-out-of-10 cool things I do will be less, and the 9's and 10's will be more. I might get a Saturday here or there, but there are often scout events or house work that need to get done. Mondays are for Cub Scouts/Scouts, Tuesdays and Thursdays are swim lessons, Wednesday is church night, Fridays are for football. Nearly every single day of the week until the end of the year will be filled with activities. Where I struggle is my time commitments outside of work which involve developing my sons and giving them an awesome childhood. This fall will be focused on some IT projects, a run though of our information security program to keep it current, a lunch and learn I need to get organized, an incident response test, a DR test, a few pentest and audits, and prepare for Pentest+ when time allows. This summer has been crazy and it will soon be back to the school year grind. I know my LinkedIn posts have been sporadic. I've been focusing mostly on projects at hand, and avoiding too many distractions. This has been hard to learn as I'm fairly open minded and interested in hearing what other people have to offer and are doing. I've been decent at respectfully declining invitations to look at "new shiny" products and services. I feel this! Both personally and professionally. That’s what let’s Apple not include the brick this year. Everyone already has lightning power solutions. We played the piece, but somehow we all got off track and it ended awkwardly.Īnybody want to share a moment where they took their shot and missed terribly? Apple not including the charging brick this year but having the wall end of the cable be USB-C is a fairly substantial point in the argument that USB-C on the iPhone itself is never going to happen. I was part of a small group that didn't practice as much as they should have. Our band teacher put an emphasis at sending many groups and soloists to a competition. Later in life, I had a similar moment in high school band. You know what? They clapped for me even though I was very embarrassed. The audience sat for a second not knowing if I was supposed to make mexican hat dance sound like Jimmy Hendrix's version of the national anthem. I sat there for a second looking smug knowing that sounded nothing like the mexican hat dance. I was so lost, I ended up just playing whatever, improvising whatever I could to fill the space until I finished. The song was "mexican hat dance" and I absolutely butchered it. I remember as a young guy, about 7, I played a guitar solo in front of a large group.
